Part One – What To Eat For Your Body Type?

In this post, Dr. Berg discusses what to eat according to your body type to get healthy and lose weight. Eating certain foods for your particular body type can trigger your body into burning unnecessary body fat.

If you are pretty sure that what body type you have you can go right to that eating plan and you are going to customize what meals that you want based on your body type.

But if you are a mixed body type or you feel like you are all the body types then the best thing to do is start out with the adrenal body type. Why, because about 80% of the people are the adrenal body type.  Start with the adrenal and then if you do not seem to feel as good or are you not losing as much weight go right to the liver.

The ovary and the thyroid type are very specific. You will know you have that body type. It is very rare to have a primary thyroid but if you are on thyroid medication then you just go right to that. The ovary type is very similar but you are going to have weight mainly in the lower part only like the hips and the thighs.

Start with the adrenal and then go to the liver if you are confused. Most likely you are going to start with the adrenal and do very well.

ADRENAL BODY TYPE –    The basic categories of food that you should focus on are the amounts of protein, which is between three and six ounces of animal protein per meal.  The adrenal needs more protein is because their body is breaking down more protein in muscles and collagen in the skin. You need to replace that if you do not replace that protein you are going to feel a little bit weaker.  

Protein – What we are trying to do is fix the hormone so you can metabolize the protein so it can be used by the body. Some people do a little bit better in the liver body type by cutting down protein and then eating more vegetables to clean up the liver and their hair comes back. We are talking about three six ounces per meal of animal protein. If you are vegetarian then do spirulina or try to find some protein powder. It is better to eat eggs, fish, chicken, things like that. Make sure it is organic or free-range if possible.

Fat – You need the high fat that you will find in nuts, avocados, cheese, plain yogurt, organic yogurt, and whole milk yogurt. The reason why we need a bit more fat is because those hormones are made from cholesterol. Nuts and avocados and vegetable type fats (do not do vegetable oils) do not have any cholesterol in them. We need a little bit more fat because typically an adrenal case has blood sugar issues and if you do not have enough fat in the diet you tend to crash and you do not feel like you are satisfied.

The most important time to have that protein is in the early part of the day not right before bed. Do not eat cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and Brussels sprouts. Kale is probably going to be okay in a kale shake. (Dr. Berg has a recipe for a Kale Shake). Avoid other cruciferous vegetables simply because adrenal cases typically have bloating with those vegetables. If you are bloating, have gas or stomach pain you should not be consuming those vegetables instead consume other types of vegetables like romaine lettuce, spinach, tomato, carrot and celery and those types of things.

We recommend seven cups of vegetables. Why? Because somehow we have to get the nutrition in your body and most the vitamins are in the vegetables. That is what you do for the adrenal type.

OVARY – The ovary is similar in that you need high protein, higher fat but we prefer if you do more organic dairy like kefir, yogurt and cheese. The label should say no rBST, meaning no hormones. There are certain factors in dairy that actually support the ovary type and they usually crave that. Instead of ice cream, cream cheese, cheesecake we are doing cheese, kefir, yogurt and things like that.  

The ovary type needs cruciferous. Why? Because cruciferous are anti estrogenic. They have those properties that balance estrogen it is very important to clean up that estrogen because the ovary type is producing too much estrogen so we want to clean it out and the kale shake would be good. Do not be afraid to have broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and things like that.  These are very cancer protecting as well.  Avoid soy in general but specifically for this body type.  Avoid soy protein isolates, powders and the health bars and the protein bars and the health shakes and all the different pre-package food diets have the soy as their protein. They are very bad, low quality and you can actually create a tumor as a fibroid.

Ovary cases are estrogen dominant so cruciferous will balance it out.
